Critical praise for the album has been matched only by the enthusiasm of all kinds of music listeners throughout New Zealand. View From Olympus shot to NUMBER ONE on the classical charts immediately on launching in September, and remained the number one classical selling album in the country practically uninterupted for FIVE MONTHS.
Out Now In
New Zealand
View From Olympus is now in the world. This part of it anyway. After considerable expectation the album was launched in Wellington by the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark, on September 22, at an event hosted by the city. The launch was followed by the premiere of Zahara, John Psathas' 2nd and newest saxophone concerto, featuring Federico Mondelci on tenor & soprano sax, with the NZSO.
We’re grateful to Helen Clark and Kerry Prendergast for this and their previous support for the project, and to all of the project’s partners and contributors, particularly Creative NZ and Victoria University, as well as to the artists, the NZSO, and production people, for enabling this insanely ambitious project to see the light of day, with nil artistic compromise.
The CD/DVD release is, if we may say so ourselves, sumptuously packaged in a substantial double digipac with a 24 page booklet, which, along with the DVD gives considerable insight into the creation of the music. And it's very affordably priced @ RRP NZ$39-95.
